Hair is a little messy and wild with a no-effort look. Use a cream to piece out the hair and let it air dry. After the hair is dry you can go in with a light spray wax and add some texture to get that wild look! A great leave-in cream is Oribe "Creme For Style"

So, we are in the middle of the Holiday Season! You know what that means...

Holiday Hair!

Blow Outs, Up-Styles, New Looks!!!

Whatever your holiday plans are this season, don't go crazy!!! This year is all about being simple and elegant. A lot of body and movement for those blow outs, try using a voluminous spray on your roots when blow drying. Also, tip your head upside down and work the root to create volume and smooth the ends with a brush when the hair is almost completely dry.

For the up-style, try a classic twist or a side pony and rap it in to a fun bun! There are so many different up-styles to create, have fun with it! But remember, make it simple so the class will show.

If you opt for the new look this season, go to your salon professional and bring some pictures of the look you are wanting to show off!

Fall Hair...

OK, it has been a bit but I have been busy catching all the new trends around town...

So, Hair is rich red and chocolate brown with caramel tones this fall! It's all about color!!!! As the season changes, don't forget to update those locks.

Summer is gone but that does not mean your hair needs to be dull. Get to the salon and get a refresher on those sun dried ends! ( Kerastase, Chronologiste ) A good conditioning treatment would be a great start. Try a new moisturizing shampoo and conditioner, I fell back in love with Sebastian's Drench Shampoo and Conditioner, very moisturizing!

Now that you have a good foundation, it's COLOR TIME!!! :)

The Face Shape!

I recently read a great article all about hair and the shape of the face. It's very important to recognize that these two factors go together in creating the perfect look. There are 4 face shapes... Oval, Round, Square, and Heart. The best way to figure out your shape is to stand in front of your vanity mirror and outline your face on the mirror using lipstick. Step away from the mirror and see the shape you have drawn. Once you have figured out your face shape, you will know what look is best for your face!

Oval...
The widths of your brow bone, cheek bone, and jaw bone are all equal.

The best look for an oval face is to create fullness around the cheek bones and jaw line. The fuller the hair, the fuller the face! Have your hair stylist cut medium to long layers into your cut. Try curling the layers to create that fullness you desire, and add a little bounce. The idea is to make the hair look bigger on the sides.

Round...
Your forehead and jawbone are curved in the corners.

With a round face you want to create volume on the top and bottom of the hair. Shorter layers will add more volume on the top, textured layers on the bottom create balance to keep the hair flowing. The bigger top, the better!

Square...
The length of the face is equal to the width.

A square face needs to be softened. Layers around the face with a fringe will add the desired softness and erase hard lines from the square shape. Have your hair stylist create soft shapes around the face, this will dismiss your angular jaw and forehead.

Heart...
Your brow bone is wider than your jaw bone.

Almost all heart shaped faces look amazing with shorter pieces around the brow bone. The idea is to draw attention to your eyes. Soft layers around the cheek bones also help to bring attention to the eye area. You can have long hair with this face shape, just remember to add lots of layers with a heavy bang to balance the face!

Now that you have all the knowledge to creating your perfect look with your face shape, remember to have fun and always be you! You wear your hair 360 days a year, you are worth the time, the effort, and the look!

As I sip my coffee, in walks one of New York City's hottest pop stars! Tall, blonde, and blue eyed. Dressed in a vintage NY ♥'s ME T-shirt, Sleeveless, with a few extra handmade touches he designed himself. Sporting some emerald earrings, a fierce pair of Prada sunglasses, and a D&G watch attached to a well manicured hand. I get a feeling of retro 80's glam with a 50's spirit. He knows style and he knows what he likes. He is a cool guy without even trying. That's right, I have the inside scoop on the hottest pop star... Killian Wells! Most of the time you will see Killian wearing a glamed out Nintendo glove that he made himself, he is a real talent on many levels... We discussed his retro, kitchy, over the top style. Including hair, clothes, and his new video, this is a style blog after all! Killian has a wonderful presence that draws you in wanting more, I sat with him for what seemed to be an hour but to my surprise a whole day had gone by. So, here is the tell all scoop on Killian Wells!

Killian's Single, V.I.P. is climbing the charts this summer, it's so hot! A must download from Itunes!!! His first album called "Hot Mess" was a test run for his new album that is in the works. I asked Killian to describe his style in 3 words... Eccentric, Vibrant, and Edgy! I have to agree, his favorite colors are Neon Purple, Neon Green, and Neon Pink! He has the walls in his apartment to prove it... Luckily he had pictures to show me on his IPhone. A Mannequin dressed to impress hanging out in his dining area is only one of many unique accessories going on throughout his NYC loft. With a style outside of the box and a shock value attitude, Killian likes to style his own videos so the audience can feel his vision. Crazy wigs, surfer curls, and the style line of "Shades of Greige" make up a few of his favorites that were used in his V.I.P. video.

A typical night out for Killian is much more thought out than he likes to lead on... He will go shopping in the morning to find that "one of a kind" outfit he can alter himself for a special Killian Wells touch. One of his favorite NYC Shops is "Top Man", located downtown in the fashionable Soho area of NYC. He spends at least 1 hour on his hair, did we expect anything less! With beautiful locks like his, it must take time to keep them polished. Killian shampoo's twice a week but conditions every day. In my opinion, he is on the right track to keeping his hair in great shape. Killian's style inspirations range from the ever so remembered Michael Jackson to the masculine side of 80's Rock! Speaking of 80's, he has a love of the movie "Desperately Seeking Susan". A classic for anyone who loves vintage fashion and upbeat music, this proves that no style is to far off for Killian Wells. Fierce jackets, Hot shoes, and a masculine attitude mold his unique look.

V.I.P. is his hot single and I had to know, does he prefer the 212 or the 323? His answer... "Both!" LA has a lot to offer he said, the weather is perfect. But, it is no New York. The convenience of the city is amazing for Killian, He walks everywhere and loves the energy. Killian also likes being a pop star in the city of few pop stars. I don't blame him, NYC is a city where people can be over the top and get away with it!

What's next for Killian Wells? "More music, studio time, and producing!" He is very eager and talented and wants to keep expanding and getting to know every corner of the music industry. The ideas never sleep, he is always going with the new, next, and most creative thing! Now the question everyone has been wondering... Is Killian dating anyone... "No, not right now." But he does have a few celebrity crushes, Emily Deschanel from the hit show "Bones" and Joseph Gordon-Levitt best known from the movie "(500) Days of Summer". Two hot choices if you ask me!

The 4th Of July weekend is here! A fun and simple ponytail with texture and movement will look great with any holiday outdoor party. The beach, a picnic, or a night of fun fireworks is no reason not to look great, The pony is a summer time classic and will always work for the 4th.

Let your hair air dry after shampooing and conditioning. Put a little shine spray in the ends and work it up with a simple hair band. The fuller the better, so use a little texture past to twist and tease the ends.

Heat and moisture outside can really ruin a great hairstyle! First things first, make sure you are shampooing every OTHER day, I know the heat creates sweat and makes the hair over oily. Try using a dry shampoo, I love the KMS Hairplay Makeover Spray Shampoo. Condition EVERY day!!! You are going to be outside, at the beach, market, pier, etc... The sun will get hold of your locks and dry out your hair. You can use a few leave in products that help protect the hair as you frolic in the sun, I love MOP leave in conditioner, Kerastase Aqua-Seal, and Ojon Revitalizing Mist Leave-In Conditioner. Now, lets talk styling...

The summer pony tail is a favorite of mine! Load up your hair with your new leave-in conditioner, blow dry the hair in a messy way using your hands only, not a brush! (this creates texture) and pull the hair up leaving it messy and flirty without that cheerleader slicked back look.

The twist up is great for a hot summer night out! After you have saturated the hair with your leave-in conditioner, blow dry the hair with a big round brush. (creating body in the hair) Once the hair is dry, smooth the hair back and tie into a high ponytail on the crown of the head. Take the rest of the pony hair and literal twist the hair going in a downward motion. Take the end of the ponytail and and secure it back at the top of the crown creating a fierce twist!

At the beach hair can be fun, make sure you have your leave-in conditioner at hand if you go into the water. I say just have fun with your hair here, you will be with friends and enjoying yourself. Try a side braid or a braided bun. This will keep your hair out of the way from that lovely view!

Midwestern Hair!

I have been traveling lately... It amazes me how different hair is around the U.S. Midwest hair seems to have a sense of realness. Let me break it down... I like to think of the Midwest as a place where the people are hard workers, they get up early and work all day. On the farm, in the factory, or in the garden. The point is, there is hard work going on and there is no time for weekly blowouts and daily flat irons. It's either long or very short, in a ponytail or short bangs. The point is, it must be out of the face. I must give it to the Midwestern hair, long and beautiful. Not one extension! That is pretty news worthy! As for the very short styles... momma wants her roller set back.

I'm looking forward to spending the summer in my hometown of Nantucket Island after six years in New York City!

Hair Care:
Eric does such a fabulous job highlighting my hair that it would be a sin not to take care of it during my six weeks between appointments. I look forward to the day when I can afford pricey salon shampoos, but until then, I have found a wonderful drugstore solution: L'Oreal's Color Vive. The Color Vive line does a great job preserving and protecting my hair color without the waxy residue that other drugstore shampoos leave behind.

Do you style your hair:
My secret weapon is my Chi Turbo hair dryer. I have a ton of hair that can take a forty-five minutes to dry with a dinky hair dryer. The Chi is pricey but is definitely an investment piece. It is light-weight, practically silent, and speeds up the hair drying process so I can spend more time styling with a round brush.

Products:
Just because I'm blonde doesn't mean I have to sacrifice shine. After I blow dry, I spritz Suave Shine Mist over my hair. It is another great drugstore find that I swear by! To avoid an oily effect, don't overdo it (four spritzes should do the trick) and avoid the roots.

Summer Look:
The side braid is this summer's hottest and (luckily for us) easiest hair trend to achieve. This one-minute hairstyle is fun for the day and transitions well into an sophisticated yet age-appropriate look for the night. I plan on wearing the side braid to both the beach and my evening events!

Statuesque blonde Brandi Irwin, 28, sits in the salon chair, her long legs crossed, a pair of silver Louboutins dangling from her manicured toes. Behind her, a hairstylist tends to her locks with the precision of a Persian rug weaver.

The stylist plucks a silky bundle of hair from a nearby table and presses it against one of Irwin’s natural locks, squeezing the two pieces together at the root with what looks like a pair of hot pliers. And voila! The tendril has suddenly sprouted an extra 24 inches.

That’s one hair extension done — 250,000 strands (and nine more hours of work) to go.

Brandi Irwin usually has shoulder-length hair (left), but to get her mermaid mane she pays $30,000 for extensions plus extras.

Welcome to Gemini 14 on 14th Street near the West Village, home to the city’s most expensive hair extensions — which cost $10,000 a pop. Irwin has hers put in three times a year. Add to that her color sessions every six weeks at about $300 per appointment and $65 blowouts twice a week and she’s forking out roughly $47,000 a year to achieve her Rapunzel-like mane (including tips). In short, what most of us would pay for a car, Irwin blows on her crowning glory — every year.

“It’s my biggest expense,” says Irwin, a former-model-turned-foot-model and photographer from Park Slope. “But it makes me feel beautiful. And I’ve worked hard for what I have.”

Plus, she says, her parents invested in “some very profitable stocks, metals and things,” when she was young — meaning her family’s helping to foot the bill.

Irwin began lengthening her hair about six years ago when she worked as a fashion model. Since then, she’s become addicted. “I couldn’t believe it when I first saw myself with the extensions. It was the hair I’d always wanted, and it looked so real,” she says, stretching her long arms. The knuckles of her left hand are tattooed with the word “POSH” in black Gothic-style letters.

Gemini 14 salon co-owner Kristina Barricelli says the extensions are worth the price. Made from “virgin” hair donated by Indian women to Hindu temples as part of a religious offering, the strands are de-pigmented using a special “osmosis” process untouched by chemicals, leaving the hair as pure as possible.

Also, Barricelli says the hair company she buys from, Great Lengths, uses a keratin protein polymer bond to adhere the extensions, so they last longer, cause less damage and look more natural than brands that use tar, silicone and glues. The Great Lengths treatment lasts up to six months, she says, while ordinary procedures last significantly shorter and only look fresh for a month or so. Miley Cyrus and Broadway bombshell Kristin Chenoweth are both devotees of Barricelli’s extensions.

What's With The RAIN!!!?

It has been raining for the past 4 days in NYC... This has created a scream in the streets with all of the frizzy locks. I tell you, mother nature loves a good challenge. This is my suggestion for weather challenging hair:

A messy pony tail, it adds texture and will not get in the way while you are running to the subway.

Start buy applying a little shine spray to the ends of the hair, use your fingers to comb the hair in an upward motion. This will create texture and an undone look, (very sexy)! Tie the hair into a pony tail with an elastic band, once you are satisfied with the placement of the tail, wrap some of the excess hair around the elastic band and fasten with a bobby pin. This will create a more finished look.

Enjoy the rain and remember to be Fierce!

Make sure to have a hair and makeup trial at least a month in advance. You want to be able to adjust anything before the wedding day.
Get a trim 3 weeks before the wedding, you want to be fresh with no split ends.

Color can make or break a great haircut! Highlight season is coming faster than a subway on the express track... As the cold weather dies down and the sun comes out, it is time to brighten up those stressed out frozen locks! Blonde is back and a perfect fit with that lovely wave that is so popular right now.

Highlights are a great way to easily brighten up the hair. Try having your hairstylist lighten just around the face to give you a nice and health glow. There are many shades of blonde, so make sure you and your hairstylist find the perfect color to fit your hair and skin tone. Ask to see hair strands of different colors for a better picture of what you are working to achieve. Remember, it is only going into Spring so don't over do the blonde coloring just yet... Summer will be just around the corner. I think the saying is true... Blonde's really do have more fun, well at least in the warmer months!

As you hit the salon this season, get those stressed out stands brightened up with a little golden color. Don't forget your conditioning treatment! As the weather changes so does the hair, before you frizz out treat and condition that lovely hair on your head. I love the kerastase salon treatment! If you are at home and in need of a quick fix treatment try your favorite conditioner, a few shine drops, and a little steam from the shower for about 5-10 minutes. You will LOVE the results!

Curl Is Back!

OK, curl is back. Think of it like this, TEXTURE!!! I am talking about wave in the hair, think hot rollers or big curling irons. My prediction for this upcoming season is...Do I dare say it??? Perms! OK, not that old lady momma got a set perm, but a nice body wave that adds some texture to your hair. The 80's have been back for quite some time now and it was only a matter of time before hair caught up...

My favorite curl right now is that wave curl. It's all over NYC! Very 20's finger wave with length. The best way to achieve this look is to curl all of your hair (with your favorite iron) going in the same direction. Take small sections and curl every section the same way to get the right pattern. Then, spray with a nice hold hairspray and brush, brush, brush... The brushing is very important! That is what is blending all of the hair together to create the look. Lastly, Mold the hair into a S formation. That's it, put on your favorite lip gloss, a little mascara, and hit the town!

Another way to add great texture to your hair is braids, big and small. the braid can be a great way to add a little flavor to any hair do. I personally like a big loose braid that has the look of a lady who just can't bother. She looks Fierce with that designer bag and that messy braid! The best part about the braid is that it only takes seconds to spice up any do.
